How much will it cost to have an iPad website optimized?

Written By: Blittzit.com - Nov• 27•10

Simply – it all depends!

Really, the cost of an iPad optimized website varies depending on the site and complexity. A small web site with just two to three static pages could be developed and hosted for two years for well less than $1,000.

A full website with a large number of pages and a detailed Contact Management System could cost anywhere between $5,000 and $15,000.

The one huge advantage in working with Blittzit.com is that we focus on one aspect of the huge Internet website development industry – and that is creating websites specifically enhanced to take advantage of the iPad.

While you can have your current webmaster simply adjust the width of your website page so that it “almost fits and is readable” in the landscape of the iPad, our focus is to give your website the feel of an iPad App, and for much less than the $35,000 needed to develop the typical app for approval for the App Store.

So. please take your iPad and look at our portfolio of  completed client websites, and see if what we do fits into your marketing scheme and budget.

If so, please contact us and we will be pleased to the discuss your website design requirements and give you a fixed quotation.

View this iPad-optimized web site on your home or laptop computer

Written By: Blittzit.com - Nov• 26•10

If you were browsing on an iPad, you’d already be exploring our enhanced site!

If you want to see what our iPad enhanced site looks like from your laptop or desktop – that is now possible!

Follow the directions below to make a temporary tweak to your browser, and you can see this enhancement as if you were sitting in from of an iPad!

When you access a site, your browser identifies itself with its User Agent string. This string includes information like the browser name, its version, your operating system and the type of device you are using in the case of a mobile device. With this information, a website can easily show different versions of its content to different User Agents. By changing our User Agent string (also refereed to as spoofing), we can trick those websites into thinking we are visiting them on an iPad.

Here’s how to change your user agent in Safari

Safari

Mac Safari 5 users can change their user agent settings by enabling the Developer menu through Preferences > Advanced.

From the Developer menu, the user agent can be changed so that the browser looks like Mobile Safari 3.2.2 on the iPad. There are, of course, some caveats. Unlike some other browsers, changing the Safari user agent only persists for the current browser window instance. Additional browser windows or restarting the browser gets you back to the original agent.
